Dolphins

Dolphin Pose
  • Split silks, pull over into pike position
  • Split legs and lean legs towards pole on side that matches whichever split leg is in front
  • Leg that was in front will now be “on top” of same-side hand on pole (be sure to have hand close to body in the thigh, if it’s too close to the knee or below the knee, it will be difficult and painful)
  • Keep turning body while pulling up with hand that’s on the other pole (without the leg)
  • Bend front leg in stag position and pose
  • To exit, reverse movements and back out to strong point
Dolphin Exit
  • From Dolphin Pose, continue to roll, bringing the free knee in front of the tail and around to match the knee at the pole, keeping a looser grip on the pole without the legs so you can rotate your hand and shoulder to prevent strain
  • Bend both knees around pole and squeeze
  • Re-grip both hands high on poles, pull up, fan legs to the side (towards the opposite side than in second step)
Dolphin Climb
  • From Dolphin Exit, instead of re-gripping and fanning legs to exit, grab poles high and big pull up, silk tails will fall off as you straighten your legs
  • Repeat to climb again or go into next skill
