Candy Cane Back Hang

  • Single footlock with silks together
  • Split poles apart, and posse free leg through the middle of the poles
  • Bring hand, opposite of locked foot, and match same-side hand on pole of the locked foot, placing the locked-foot pole on your belly and the other pole on your back
  • Point free leg to the side, lower body to the side, rotate to match ankles at the foot lock and face hips towards the ceiling (similar to beginning of Candy Cane)
  • Use free foot to push silks towards ankle and bring the leg through, passing between the silks and your body (this is DIFFERENT than Candy Cane where your leg goes between the two poles themselves, in this skill, your leg goes between the body the two poles)
  • Keep holding onto the pole with the hand that is opposite of the direction your shoulders are turning (if you are turning to the right, hold the pole with your left hand, elbow bent, and keep turning until the silk is in your back)
  • Find balance and pose
  • To exit, place both hands on the pole above your body, posse free leg, spin backwards 1 time, and then a half to back out of the split silks, remove footlock

This video shows turning to the left, and thus, holding with the right hand until the silk at in the back.

What does your studio call this skill?
