Split Roll Crossback

  • Separate silks and create equal footlocks
  • Rotate body to face one pole (of the leg you want in front when you split), place both hands on front pole, same-side hand (as the front leg) a little higher, opposite-side hand at eye height
  • Pull up on pole, rotate body and front leg towards the pinkie of the front foot, in effect “rolling up” the back foot more
  • Bring front leg through the poles and back down into splits (as in a split roll up)
  • Flamenco the opposite-hand (of the front leg) high on the pole, bring same-side hand, shoulder, and head forward between the pole and the body, and regrab the pole low (pole is now in both armpits (similar to Arabesque position)
  • Lift front leg up and through center of poles, keeping the pole along the back
  • As your body passes through the middle of the poles, grab the opposite pole with the matching-side hand, straighten legs towards floor, adjust “X” to lower back
  • To exit, grab the pole that is closest to your back, release the other pole, allowing silk to pop off the shoulder, regrab poles for comfort, undo footlocks
