Terry Twist

  • Separate silks, make equal footlocks, place hands on one pole at eye height, and rotate body to face that pole
  • With hands on pole around eye-height, bring back foot in front of front foot, crossing ankles
  • With back pole in middle of back and bottom, lower to seated position, bending front leg, and bringing front ankle on top of front pole
  • Move hands to back pole, just above head
  • Begin one full rotation, leading the direction with the bent knee, keeping ankle on top of bottom leg’s thigh, as well as keeping the back pole touching your back
  • With the same-side hand as the top-bent knee, let go of back pole and grab pole in front
  • With the opposite-side hand as the top-bent knee, let go of back pole, bring shoulder to other side of the back pole (bring back pole into armpit of opposite-side arm), re-grab pole
  • Pull up on both poles, straighten and straddle legs and point feet towards floor
  • To exit: place both hands on pole that is closest to the body, allow other pole to pop off, re-grab poles comfortably, remove footlocks
