- Hip Key
- Grab poles at chest height in strong hold, squeeze thighs together as you swivel your legs down towards the floor, and then back to your hip key position. During this swivel, allow the tails to slide off your bottom and over your lap, in effect, switching from laying over your top leg, to laying over your bottom leg. Notice you are in a hip hitch.
- Lift tails and swim under them. Grab pole high with top hand and hold tails in bottom hand.
- Leading with the knee, bring top leg through the triangle formed by the pole and upper arm.
- Holding onto tails with bottom hand, release the grip of your top hand from the pole, keep body tight, and regrab pole as your body becomes upright again. The higher you grab, the more room you have to bring your leg through, as well as the better the momentum you have in your salto. Repeat as many times as you wish.
- To exit, key over (wrapped thigh will be on the bottom leg), swim backwards under tails (bring tails back to front), place both hands on pole, release legs from the silks.
